MinimAL
Low-carbon aluminium produced using carbon-free nuclear electricity
Reliable low-carbon aluminium for a more sustainable future.
Electricity generation accounts for around 60 per cent of the global aluminium industry's greenhouse gas emissions. MinimAL is EGA's low-carbon aluminium produced using carbon-free electricity generated at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi.
By combining EGA's world-class aluminium production expertise with around-the-clock clean energy, MinimAL helps customers reduce the carbon footprint of their products while maintaining the premium quality they expect.
EGA’s new product positions the UAE as a reliable supplier of low-carbon industrial materials to global markets and expands EGA’s low-carbon metal portfolio for our local and global customers.
Unlike intermittent renewable sources, nuclear power provides abundant clean electricity 24 hours a day, seven days a week, supporting the continuous operation required for aluminium production.
MinimAL helps manufacturers reduce the embedded emissions in their supply chains, supporting their sustainability targets while delivering the performance required for demanding industrial applications.
The clean electricity is certified through the UAE’s Clean Energy Certification programme using International REC Standard (I-REC) protocols to ensure traceability and credibility. The power is supplied through Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) via the national grid.
