UAE-based aluminium giant targets extrusion industry at specialist event
United Arab Emirates, 01 May 2016: Emirates Global Aluminium (“EGA”), the Middle East’s largest primary aluminium producer and among the top five in the world, will participate at the 11th International Aluminum Extrusion Technology Seminar & Exposition (“ET’16”), which takes place from 2 to 6 May in Chicago, USA. As the world’s leading producer of primary aluminium billet for extrusion and forging, manufacturing more than 1.1 million tonnes per annum (“Mtpa”), EGA will leverage ET’16 to showcase its products with the view to gaining market share in North America and farther afield.
Held every four years, the ET series of events has an established reputation for quality and commitment to excellence; and is highly respected by players in the aluminium extrusion industry. The ET’16 event, which marks EGA’s third participation, is expected to attract more than 1,200 industry professionals from more than 50 countries.
“As the premier seminar and expo for the aluminium extrusion industry, ET is truly global in its scope and appeal, making it a strong platform to showcase EGA’s world-leading operations and our international reach, as well to promote our intrinsically superior quality billets for the extrusion industry,” says Walid Al Attar (Chief Marketing Officer: EGA).
Al Attar advises that DUBAL America Inc. (“DAI”) – a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Aluminium (“DUBAL”) and a member of the EGA group of companies – is the sole distributor in North America of the primary aluminium products manufactured by EGA’s midstream operations. A strong logistics network, with hubs at every major port in the USA, has helped DAI establish a strong presence in the market. Approximately 0.5 Mtpa of EGA products are sold direct to customers in the transportation, building and construction industries. The bulk of this volume (about 60 per cent) is billets, making DAI one of the largest single importers of primary billet in North America.
“EGA billets currently account for a 20 per cent share of the 1.43 Mtpa primary aluminium billet market in the USA,” says Al Attar. “Declining local supply together with DAI’s ability to build excellent customer relationships and deliver our high quality, made-to-specification products on time, means that the scope for growth in our North American market share is enormous.”
