Opportunities for school leavers

EGA provides National Training Programmes for UAE Nationals at both Al Taweelah and Jebel Ali that enable high school leavers to take up positions in various fields in our company.

National Training Maintenance Programme

This is a three-year programme through which young UAE Nationals can develop into competent technicians working in maintenance disciplines including Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation.

Trainees are taught through structured, classroom-based theoretical programmes, practical training in workshops, and on-the-job training in EGA Maintenance areas.

On successful completion of the programme, trainees gain an internationally-recognised ‘Certificate 3 in Engineering’  issued by Box Hill Institute of Australia which is accredited by the Australian Technical and Further Education Authority. Programmes usually start in September of each year.

Criteria:
  • UAE National holding a UAE passport
  • High School Certificate, preferably in science or technical subjects
  • A pass score in the EGA entrance test in English, mathematics and science

 

National Training Smelter Programme

This six-months training programme provides young UAE National trainees the opportunity to learn the skills to work at our smelters, as well as to acquire knowledge and practical on-the-job work experience. Usually there are two intakes per year (March and September).

On successful completion of the training programme, course graduates become Utility Operators and will be assigned to a specific smelter operations area under a shift pattern.

Criteria:
  • UAE National  holding a UAE passport
  • High School Certificate preferred
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and some relevant work experience
  • A pass score in the EGA English language entrance test

 

National Training Power Programme

This one-year training programme provides trainees with both theoretical knowledge and practical on-the-job work experience.

The number of trainees and the frequency of the programme are determined by internal staffing and skills requirements. On successful completion of the training programme, course graduates become Assistant Power Operators in EGA power plants in Al Taweelah and Jebel Ali sites.

  • UAE National holding a UAE passport
  • High School Certificate in science subjects or relevant work experience

 

National Training Desalination Programme

This one-year training programme provides trainees with both theoretical knowledge and practical on-the-job skills and work experience. This programme usually starts in September of each year. On successful completion, course graduates become Assistant Desalination Operators in the desalination plant at EGA Jebel Ali.

  • UAE National holding a UAE passport
  • High School Certificate in science subjects or relevant work experience

 

National Training Technical Programme

This is a one-year training programme through which young UAE Nationals are developed into competent technicians, capable of working in various technical departments such as the laboratories and process control departments at EGA. On successful completion, course graduates gain an internationally recognised ‘Certificate Level-2 Process Technology’ issued by City & Guilds UK.

Criteria:
  • UAE National holding a UAE passport
  • High School Certificate in science subjects or relevant work experience

 

National Training Administrators’ Programme

This is a six-month training programme through which young UAE Nationals are developed into competent Office Administrators, capable of working in various departments within EGA. On successful completion, course graduates will be able to perform different administrative tasks that support management within the organization.

Criteria:
  • UAE National holding a UAE passport
  • High School Certificate, Diploma Certificate or relevant work experience
